What I thought:
I just finished reading this book the other day, I wanted to make sure I had the whole thing read before doing a review and giveaway for it! There were so many great points made throughout this book.
The first point that stuck with me throughout the book is that the author mentions that God can be looked at as a Father-in-law, so to speak. That God wants you to love and care for his daughter/son like he does. That totally makes sense to me even if it is an odd thing to think about at first.. 😀
The other point that I kept with me was that it is a natural thing to want to be loved, I mean, who doesn’t want to be loved more than we already are…but really, what we need to be focusing on is to love more ourselves. Right? It is totally true.. The love you give is so much more important than the love you take…
I really like the way the book was laid out. There are three different sections: The Magnificent Obsession, Growing Together, and The Journey Toward Love. In each section there are separate chapters. At the end of each chapter there are some questions to answer which some are very thought provoking! At the very end is a short little prayer.
There are personal tales included in the book as well as stories from other people. So it didn’t have a ‘textbook’ feel to it, which I liked.
Anyway, I really appreciated this book. Gave me some things to think about in my own marriage! It definitely isn’t a book to rush through and that is one reason it took me so long to read it and I still could read it again slower…
