You guys know I love to read! Recently I was asked to review this book by Emerson Eggerichs, PhD called Mother & Son. He is also the author of Love & Respect.
The idea is such a new one to me, that I haven’t heard talked about anywhere else that I was interested to see what it had to say! Basically, the book boils down to saying that the mother needs to respect the son. You always hear people saying that the son needs to respect the mother. But some of this book actually made sense!
Part of the book was mentioning how different males and females are, which we all know…but the author said that females main thing is ‘love’ and for males it is actually ‘respect’. There were quite a few examples given that really proved that point. And just as much that a daughter needs her dad’s love, a son needs his mothers respect!
One of the examples given about the differences of males and relationships made me chuckle. A mom wrote in to the author saying that her fourteen year old son called his friend, talked to him for 30 seconds with under ten words. Women could never do that! But I remember Jeffy and his friend saying like one word each to each other and then hanging up…so silly!! 😀
The book went on and on about Respect Talk to the point that I couldn’t believe that people actually talked like this to their boys. Then there was a part in the appendix, the quick start section, that said not to overuse the phrase “I respect you” and it went on to say that you don’t need to use all of the suggestions all day long. I am glad they mentioned that, because to me it would just seem fake and like you were just saying it to say it. I get it now!
The book is an easy read and the appendix sections in the back are a great addition to the book itself. If you are interested, you can enter the giveaway below and win yourself a copy! It’s easy peasy!! 🙂
