Project 365 {Day 27}

With studying about Brazil, I was trying to come up with a food that everyone would possibly eat.  I know they said they would all try whatever it was we made, but I didn’t want to force something completely awful on them in the beginning.  😉  Three ladies from Brazil told me their way that they made Brigadeiros.  They were named after Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes, a very famous Air Force commander from the forties.  I think it was something about his wife making these desserts when they had people over and everyone would always ask where the Brigadeiros desserts were.  Kind of a neat story.  Anyway, there are a bunch of different recipes floating around, but I just stuck with this one.  Very simple ingredients, easy to make…just a lot of stirring… ha!  The recipe is down below!  Let me know if you make these!  I feel bad not planning better with the plate and counter and such, but we made these so late at night it was silly.

One can condensed milk
2 Tbsp cocoa
4 Tbsp butter
Chocolate sprinkles
Non stick pan
Wooden spoon
Mini baking cups
Melt 2 Tbsp butter in pan.  One med-low heat add milk.  Add cocoa.  A trick the ladies told me is to mix the cocoa with a little water first, because the cocoa doesn’t dissolve easily in the milk as it is.  Now, you need to stir and stir and stir…anywhere from 15-30 minutes! You will know when it is done if you separate the mixture in the middle of the pan and it takes a while to come back together.. Then, just pour it on a plate and put it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.  After it is set a bit, rub some butter on your hands and start shaping the chocolate into balls.  Roll in sprinkles and place in a mini baking cup.  It makes around…25 or so?  Depending on how big you make the balls.  😀  Chill for at least another 15 minutes before eating.  Enjoy!
