Interesting Things {Calming Collars}

I have a small four pound poodle.  People always wonder if she is a baby, but no, she is going on 7 1/2 years old.  She has a tendency to be a nervous wreck.  Pop your gum and she has her tail between her legs and is shivering.  Vacuum and she barks and barks.  Forget about thunderstorms!

I was so excited when I came across this Calming Collar!  I love how they have so many different fabric choices!  I got the XS size in a fun pattern.  I was looking forward to it coming!

It came in the mail and when I opened the package I could already get a hint of the scent from the collar.  It was great timing because we had to take her to get groomed!  Perfect!  I put it on her and of course she just kind of walked around wondering what it was but then she just layed down.  We have another dog and they were both laying in the same bed just hanging out!  Even when we took them to the groomers, our poodle wasn’t as shaky as she normally gets, I thought that was amazing!  We also had a storm recently and she didn’t seem to be affected by it as she typically is!  Score!!

This is from the website:

Herbal filled Calming Collars are based on aromatherapy and they work, naturally! These collars help your dog (or cat) overcome stress and anxiety and just be a bit more relaxed. They help with fear of thunderstorms and bad weather, fireworks or other loud noises, and in most stressful situations like a trip to the groomer or to the vet. Calming Collars can be effective all day long. Custom made just for your pet.  You can also find them on facebook at www.facebook.com/calmingcollars.

Here is a picture of my dog sporting her collar.  I really don’t think she minds it at all!  And I don’t mind holding her because she sure does smell better!  Ha!

    I have a Doberman Pinscher that is terrified of thunderstorms and fireworks. Any loud noise – jackhammering of a pool in the distance being re-surfaced etc. will send him off trying to hide in a corner or anywhere. Ironically he is named Thor after the God of Thunder. My other 2 Dobermans are not the least bit affected by any of this. This collar sounds wonderful. If I don’t win I will probably contact Jane and see if I can buy one.

    My little mixed breed mutt is very nervous and jumpy ALL THE TIME! We love her but she is a total “nervous nellie” ~~ would love to try one of these collars on her! 🙂

    I’ll keep it simple. I have a crazy beagle. I think this would really help her mellow out, especially when someone new comes over. Thanks!!

    My parent’s dog is very over-anxious and I would be willing to try just about anything to get him to stop barking!

    I have a Miniature Schnauzer that sounds much like your poodle. She is so skittish over everything.

    I’ve got 2 shepherds; the male seems to REALLY like the boxer next door. He barks constantly at the fence when she’s outside (luckily, not that often). 🙂

    My brother’s lab is a mess during thunderstorms or when he leaves! I bet something like this would help him greatly! I hope I win so I can give it to him. 🙂

    I have a very cute and adorable black and white border collie. he is nervous about being by himself for some reason…he is a rescue so I don’t know if maybe something traumatic happened to him.I love him so much, I get so sad when I hear him crying for me every time I have to go upstairs or something. ..maybe this would help him! he is just such a sweet boy:)
