One of the questions I get a lot is why My Own Green Grass? Why did I name my blog that, of all things…
Well, it seemed pretty simple to me.. 😀
Everyone knows the saying ‘The grass is always greener on the other side’, right? There are so many other quotes that go along with that. ‘Sure, but you still have to mow it’. Or, ‘The grass is only greener where you water it’. I know a few others as well…
We each have our own grass. What makes my grass green may not be what makes your grass green, and that’s ok! Your green grass may be bigger than my green grass…but we still each have green grass. Making a little bit of sense now?
If you are constantly wanting your neighbors (friends, cousins, co-workers) green grass, how will you ever be happy with your own?
Jeffy and I knew early on that things might be rough. I was pretty young when we got married and neither of us really knew what we wanted to be when we grew up. But we made it work. Our relationship is just what both of us needed to make everything better. But even during the rough patches, we had that little bit of green grass.
Others looked at our little bit of green grass and laughed…or felt sorry for us. But, we loved it! We continuously took care of it, let it grow..and, well, mowed it. 😀
Circumstances have slowly gotten better and better. There are still some things that our grass doesn’t have…but we don’t look at our ‘neighbors’ green grass with envy. We just put that much more into our own.
It may stay the same…and that is fine. It may get worse, and that’s fine too. But it will never go away. Ever.
So, that is sort of an explanation about why I named my blog what I did. My blog is all about my own green grass. It may be about family, homeschooling, baking…all of these things that I love…
I always try to look on the bright side of everything. If I can make someone smile, that’s even better. Maybe in doing that, it will help your grass get a little greener too… 🙂
