This is not one of those recipes that I have written down on a sticky note that I am trying to decipher that I started here. This is a well loved, handed down recipe. I always get people asking for this particle one… I was hesitant to share it, because it is such a favorite, but I figure, why not? Plus, I had some bananas that didn’t look too appetizing to eat by themselves..you know what I am saying, right? 😀
Look at that steam!! Fresh out of the oven!! Yummmm…
Banana Bread recipe
Mix thoroughly…1 cup sugar
2 tbsp. soft shortening
3/4 cup milk
1 cup mashed bananas (usually about two bananas)
3 cups flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
Pour in a well greased loaf pan. Let stand about 20 minutes before baking.
Bake at 350 degrees, for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick stuck into the center comes out clean.
Crack in the top is characteristic.
Thanks to Jeffy’s mom for this wonderful yummy recipe.. 🙂
