Last month when my mom and cousin were in town we decided to go to Alamance Battleground. They were having a special week and that Friday was the last day, which was also the day after they got here.
We ended up getting a late start, so by the time we got there I think all of the people were exhausted from a super busy week. But they still did their thing, and we appreciate it! We were one of two families hanging around to the end… 🙂
Shortly after we arrived we were told to head down to the field, I guess they were going to be shooting off the cannon. Cool! There were quite a few school groups there as well, so we didn’t get the best spot to see, but that’s ok. It was pretty loud! But not as loud as I thought it was going to be!
We started walking and happened across a lonely gun leaned up against a tree.. My cousin and I were excited…..to take photos of it! 🙂 She got a lot more than I did, but it was interesting anyway. I guess they didn’t want us hanging around that gun for too long and a gentleman came over and told us all about the gun and other stories pertaining to life back then. He also shot the gun, the last shot of the week he said, and he was mighty thankful for that…
Just thought this next picture was fun. 🙂 Too bad I didn’t have a different lens that day…
We then walked over to where a woman was making candles. I guess she had stopped for the day but she was willing to chat with us about it. My cousin bought some too, after dipping them one time.
The very last spot that we stopped by was all about the foods and living conditions of that time. We were there past closing so we just walked through a bit and listened to the last bits of some conversation. Eating this sort of food would be a lot better than all of the GMO stuff that we have now!
I would recommend stopping by if you are in the area! Looks like they are having a Christmas thing on Dec. 14th that looks fun! 🙂
