Five Minute Friday

It’s been a while since I did a Five Minute Friday…or even posted on the blog for that matter. Oops…

Five Minute Friday

Looks like it won’t be back until after the first of the year, so I figured today was as good a day as any!

For those that don’t know, Five Minute Friday is where you take the word given and write about it for five minutes. No editing, nothing. Just write. And then, just stop. Easy peasy.

The word for today is: Reflect

“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.”
Søren Kierkegaard

I came across this quote recently. It seemed to cover a lot of things that I have been thinking about lately.
On the eve of yet another birthday, as well as the end to another year, I guess it is typical to want to look back..

A year seems to go by so quickly…

But as you get older, it seems that five years goes quickly, or ten.

There have been many choices made, some good, some bad…
We have moved houses quite a few times.
The kids have gone from diapers to almost driving.

This last year has been about settling in. Moving across the country can be exhausting, mentally and physically! (Three cheers for not needing the GPS to go to the grocery store!)

There is a calmness now.

Just simple.

I hope that when I look back again this time next year it will be the same thing… 🙂
Some things don’t make sense until you look back at them. I see that now. So, I will continue living life forward, so that I can understand life backwards.

So true about looking back! I was thinking the other day about all the moments that have made my journey, and how many that didn’t seem important at the time actually were life-changing.

I think through personal reflection we see where we need to draw closer to God and His holy Spirit comes and helps us when we open our minds to Him and only want to be a vessel for Him to shine through. Great post.

You are becoming such a beautiful, reflective, and passionate writer. I never thought that you would become the woman you have turned out to be and blessed that you have. I am so very glad that you are my daughter.
