I am sure that everyone has a time in their life when they just want to get away from it all and just start over. Sometimes I think that we just need to take a little time off…it could be five minutes alone in the bathroom or a weekend trip away…anything.
In this book, Nourished, A Search for Health, Happiness, and a Full Night’s Sleep, the authors suggest various ideas to lead a more nourished life. Order-loving, thirty-something Rachel, and her laid-back, messy mother, Becky, are opposites in many ways. But they both believe that women long for a life that nourishes them inside and out. In this book, the mother-daughter duo will help you make that dream a reality by tackling the “Top 10 Stressors” that mess with a woman’s mind. Here is an example of the different parts in this book.
Part 1: Nourished 911
This is when you realize you need help. Something that just pushed you over the edge knowing you need a change…
Part 2: Nourished Spaces and Routines
This has tips on getting organized or just changing up your space. It could be a bathroom or a whole house!
Part 3: Nourished Bodies, Nourished Selves
This has tips on feeling good about your body and what you put in it. Exercising and menu changes may help change things up a bit in your life!
Part 4: Nourished Relationships
Everyone needs friends! This has tips on how to cultivate friendships and maybe help make new friends along the way.
Part 5: Nourished Spirits
This section deals with your mental health. There are always going to be various things going on, some good and some bad..and this gives tips to get through those times.
Following a series of trial-and-error experiments, Becky and Rachel share laugh-out-loud stories, fascinating research, and practical tips to design a nourished life By learning how to embrace “nourishing compromising,” you’ll never put happiness on hold again. If you are feeling drained, discontent, or discouraged, join a couple of understanding, entertaining companions on the journey from overwhelmed to nourished.
I like that they don’t say ‘This is what to do, do this’…rather, they list different circumstances and things that helped them… More like a suggestion to take from their experiences and possibly try a similar change. Really, sometimes you may feel like grasping at straws and not have any ideas at all, so this may be just what you need! I also like that they were able to say that something did not work!
I would think that the average woman could find something in this book that resonates within them. I did! There were some parts that I just didn’t get in to as much as others.. I am sort of in between their ages and life stories, but the book was still an interesting read! It really makes me want to get going with the house remodel we keep talking about! 😉
